In the points table, South Zone currently holds the lead with a flawless record of four wins in four games, while East Zone follows closely behind in second place, having secured victory in three out of their four matches.

In a round-robin match of the Deodhar Trophy on Sunday, South Zone showcased an impressive all-round performance to maintain their unbeaten streak, securing a comfortable five-wicket victory over East Zone. Mayank Agarwal (84) and Sai Sudharsan (53) were the standout performers, forming a formidable 118-run partnership for the second wicket. Their partnership included 10 fours and two sixes, and it powered South Zone to a convincing chase of 230 runs in 44.2 overs. Agarwal’s innings consisted of six fours and a six in 88 balls, while Sudharsan hit the boundary four times and cleared the ropes once during his 57-ball knock.

After their dismissals, N Jagadeesan (32) and Rohit Rayudu (24) played crucial roles in maintaining South Zone’s pursuit of the target.

At the time of this victory, South Zone led the points table with an unblemished record of four wins in as many games, while East Zone secured the second spot with three wins out of four matches.

The triumph was made possible by a combined effort from the bowlers. The seam trio of V Koushik (3/37), Vidhwath Kaverappa (2/40), and Vijaykumar Vyshak (1/62) contributed to the dismissal of six East Zone batsmen, while the spin duo of Sai Kishore (3/45) and Washington Sundar (1/41) accounted for four wickets.

East Zone, choosing to bat first, received a solid start from Virat Singh (49) and Subhranshu Senapati (44). However, the team experienced a setback after their dismissals, losing wickets at regular intervals. Akash Deep (44) and Mukhtar Hussain (33) then staged a recovery effort, guiding East Zone to a respectable total.
