There were numerous reports circulating regarding the tensions between MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja during the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The situation unfolded when MS Dhoni decided to hand over the captaincy to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. However, things didn’t unfold as expected, and the team’s performance suffered. Even Jadeja’s own form took a hit. In the 2022 IPL season, CSK had a disappointing campaign, finishing second from the bottom in the points table with just four wins out of fourteen matches.
But it was heartening to witness CSK’s resurgence as they clinched the trophy in the 16th edition of the league in 2023. Interestingly, there was no change in the captaincy, with MS Dhoni leading the team throughout the tournament. However, Jadeja played a pivotal role in the final, guiding the team to victory with his unbeaten 15 off 6 balls. In the midst of all this, CSK batter Ambati Rayudu shared his perspective on the events that transpired in 2022.
Ambati Rayudu commented on BehindWoods TV’s YouTube channel, saying, “I don’t believe Jaddu (Jadeja) was upset with Mahi bhai (Dhoni) at all. It was more a sense of disappointment because the team wasn’t performing well. That year, everyone’s performances were below par.”
He further added, “Dhoni has built this team and nurtured Jaddu for over a decade. Naturally, he would be thrilled that the player he helped shape played a crucial role in CSK’s victory in the final, especially after the challenges we faced last year.”
