In the opening game of their three-match Twenty20 international series on Friday in Mount Maunganui, Bangladesh won the toss and once more chose to bat first against their hosts, New Zealand. Bangladesh’s bowlers ran amok in their five-wicket triumph in the first Twenty20 match played in Napier two days earlier after they had also elected to bat first against the Black Caps. Bangladesh would achieve a first-ever series triumph in any format on New Zealand soil with another win. Although Bangladesh had won their last two white-ball matches in New Zealand, the Black Caps won this month’s home one-day international series 2-1. The tourists won Wednesday’s ODI match to support their historic victory over the hosts in New Zealand.
